I'm currently doing a guitar project and need help. do the black wires get soldered directly to the pot, as shown in the picture diagram in the box the pickups came in?
I want each pickup to have its own volume, and no overall tone control, or switching options. (s-s-s, 3 vol, 0 five-way switch). They are the Samarium-Cobalt Noiseless pickups and have 3 leads each.
Just pick up these fender mod shop pickups http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-SCN-Samarium-Cobalt-Noiseless-Tele-Pickup-Set?sku=301648
and want to install them on this tele..

The tele has 3 pickups, but this set only comes with 2, is it possible to install them, while still using one of the old pickups?
I installed the Samarium-Cobalt-Noiseless pickups in my mexican strat, and the tone knob isnt responsive when the bridge pickup is deployed. everything else works normal (i definitely suggest these pickups... sound great!)
the only thing i can think of is that there is a capacitor connecting the two tone knows together, and its not on the wiring diagram giving by fender. otherwise the wiring diagram completely matches what i did, and the solders are all clean. help!!
Hi there. I will be buying a strat month but can't decide whether to get an American Standard or an American Deluxe. At the moment I am leaning towards a Deluxe but I am curious to know the difference between the 'American Strat single coil pickups' in the Standard and the 'Samarium Cobalt Noiseless' in the deluxe.
Hi, so I have this Fender American Standard Strat HSS, and the Humbucker is really good for harder rock as most humbuckers are, but as of recently, my musical tastes have changed to more calm blues. I want to get the Fender SCN Samarium Cobalts that came standard on the American Deluxes prior to 2010 where they replaced them with those N3s. The thing is, if I change them, that might decrease the resell value if I decide to resell it one day ( I don't know if I want to though because it's my first high-end guitar.) Speaking that its an HSS, I have to get another pickguard for SSS, plus the pickups, plus the labor for getting the store to do it. I really dont' want to do it myself because I love my guitar and I'm not very experienced. (I'm still only a teen.) I have the cash definitely and then some from my summer job, but again, the resell value. What do you think I should do? (don't say anything like "save for college" I've got that covered please!)
I'm thinking about buying a Fender Deluxe (Cherry Sunburst) Ash Stratocaster with a maple neck.
I've posted some links with the specs of the guitar because I've got a few questions about them. Would you choose a maple neck or a rosewood neck and why? How well do Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ Strat® pickups recreate the single coil sound? Is it worth the money?
I think I'd like the maple neck better and I read that ash gives good resonance and sustain to a guitar. What are your comments, thoughts and opinions on this guitar? I already have a Fender Starcaster so I know what it's like to play this kind of guitar.
One thing you should know though, I plan to use distortion with this guitar. I want a heavy metal sound like Iron Maiden or something with a ton of treble to it, like Dragonforce. Any problems with this or recommendations?
